Earth, Wind and Fire: Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender Superbowl Spot
Movie News By Neil Miller on February 4, 2010 | (6) Comments
Is it just me, or does M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender look like the coolest damn movie ever in this new Superbowl TV spot? If not “coolest movie ever,” then at least “coolest movie featuring a little dude whose forehead lights up” or “coolest thing M. Night Shyamalan has ever done, period.”
The film follows the story of a reluctant young hero named Aang (Noah Ringer), who is the last of his kind. In a world where the elements — water, earth, fire and air — are controlled by people known as benders, an epic war has broken down. And Aang finds himself to be the last of the peaceful Air Nomads, the airbenders. He is also the Avatar. The Avatar is the physical re-incarnation of the world, with the power to manipulate all four elements and draw upon the power, knowledge, and experiences of the Avatar’s previous incarnations. The Avatar is responsible for maintaining balance between the four nations of the world and the spirit world, hence keeping the balance of the world. He also has a sky bison. That’s awesome.
