There's only one major plot line that makes the movie comical and that's the relationship between Gort and Hellen's son because - well, it just looks inappropriate now. And if Keanu Reeves is the ONLY actor that could pull off a part, the movie shouldn't be made. He is one of the worst actors still working today. The guy is cardboard. My vote for Gort: Ewan McGregor. Wow – I totally disagree that the original version looks dated. There’s only one major plot line that makes the movie comical and that’s the relationship between Gort and Hellen’s son because – well, it just looks inappropriate now.

And if Keanu Reeves is the ONLY actor that could pull off a part, the movie shouldn’t be made. He is one of the worst actors still working today. The guy is cardboard.
