The movies ending was shokcing, but felt ill timed. I would have liked more shots of them driving past desolation to give a sense of time and distance. A slow drive by a pile of cars at a gas station crawling with bugs. Cut to the gas meter. Drive by another pile of cars that gets stomped on by the Huge Creature. Cut to a water bottle emptied. Finally the car stops. Exterior shot of it lurching to a halt and just sitting there for a full 20 seconds. Shots of the interior as eyes glance at one another, then finish the movie as it is, but with a longer pause after he falls out of the car and before the military arrives. Have no sound then, he stumbes out into the white. Quick cuts from around him as he screams. His mind collapses and he falls to the ground (possibly unconscious, possibily dead), and then show the military fade in. The treads of the tanks missing him as soldiers walk by… Don’t show the mist fading away, just the military arriving, perhaps to save the world, but perhaps not.

So, yeah, the hard fighting characters gave up too quickly and too easily. As a new father, however, I fully realize that killing your own child is aobut as bad as it can get.

The rest of the adaptation was very well done I thought.
