Kevin Smith Has a Location and Almost Has His Miri

post-smithfigure.jpgAs you may know, I spend most of my time putzing around the web, reading other movie websites and skimming for news that I think may be interesting to the readers of this site. And one of my favorite sources of news comes from the personal blog of Kevin Smith, as the man is truly an open book. On that note, he is also whom I consider to be one of the most talented dudes in the game, hands down.

Over the past week, Kevin has revealed a few different tidbits about his upcoming flick Zack and Miri Make a Porno over at his blog, Silent Bob Speaks. Most recently (read: yesterday), he talked about sending his script to a potential Miri and how the reaction was very good:

Carla IM’s me with our potential Miri’s reaction to her weekend read of “Zack and Miri Make a Porno”…

“Script right up my alley. It’s basically about my town. And role is right on for me and also for _____.”

Later, our potential Miri comes over. I spend an hour getting to know her. She’s too fucking perfect for words.

In my eyes, this is great news. The sooner Kevin locks down his Miri, the sooner we will know who it is. There’s an addictive property to covering pre-production on movies like this, and right now I need another fix from the Zack and Miri camp.

In other Zack and Miri related news, Kevin confirmed via the NewsAskew message boards that the film will be shot on location in Pittsburgh. This is fantastic news, seeing as Pittsburgh is only a few hours away from me here in Columbus. Who knows, if the stars align, maybe I can swindle a publicist into lining up a set visit. Stay tuned for more on that and any other Zack and Miri news as we will surely be keeping an eye on it for you.

Zack and Miri Make a Porno is set for release sometime in 2008.
