Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway in Bride Wars

The official international website for the upcoming comedy Bride Wars, which stars Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway as two best friends whose quest for their dream weddings sets them on an unlikely collision-course. And as you will see from the trailer below, the gloves come off.

Lets be honest here — when you saw Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson’s names in the title, you were instantly interested in this movie, weren’t you? Its okay to admit it, that would be a completely normal reaction. Between the two of them, I would venture to say that we’ve seen plenty of good films in the past. Not to mention the fact that they are both drop-dead gorgeous, which doesn’t hurt their cause. What does hurt their cause, though, is the fact that this film doesn’t look like much to write home about, at least based on the first trailer. The premise seems like fun — two best friends turned brides to be who go to war over a venue — but the execution of some of the humor appears to fall flat. I still think there’s hope because, in fact, it is just a trailer, but perhaps I was expecting a little bit more out of this duo. We shall see…

Bride Wars, which is directed by 13 Going on 30′s Gary Winick, will hit theaters on January 9, 2009.

What do you think of the first Bride Wars trailer?
