In talking with MTV, actress Natalie Portman spilled the beans on yet another actress who will be joining the cast of Marvel’s Thor for director Kenneth Branagh. According to Portman, who will star as Jane Foster, Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist star Kat Dennings will be joining the cast in an undisclosed role. “I’m really excited,” Portman told MTV News. “Kat Dennings is going to be in it with me and she’s a good friend and an amazing actress, so I’m looking forward to that.”
It is likely that Dennings will play another member of the hospital staff around nurse Jane Foster, who in the comics is employed by Dr. Donald Blake (the Earth identity of Thor). But nothing has yet been set, as this is the first we’re hearing about Dennings’ involvement.
Dennings not only joins Portman, but also Chris Hemsworth, Idris Elba, Anthony Hopkins and the trio of actors (Stuart Townsend, Ray Stevenson and Tadanobu Asano) named as The Warriors Three. The film begins shooting in mid-January, so don’t be surprised if more casting announcements come down the pipe in the next 2-3 weeks.
