Reacher is 6'5, 220 – 250. Some of these choices aren't even close to fitting those demensions. Then again Jack Nicholson played Randall P. McMurphy who wasn't even close to his height and weight.
After sitting through what seemed like a ten minute naked fight scene in a bathhouse, I can't stomach Viggo playing Reacher.

Josh Brolin’s a great pick, though the first person I thought of before my scroll to the comments was Russell Crowe (who, strictly speaking, is from New Zealand). I didn’t watch Gladiator and think “Look! There’s an Aussie in the Flavian Amphitheatre!”

Josh Brolin is perfect. This discussion is over. Edward Norton? Are you serious?! No sorry not anywhere close. Viggo maaaayyybe but that’s still a stretch. Have you ever even watched a Dirty Harry movie? Josh Brolin has that raw, gritty, Texas badass thing about him. Plus he just looks like that grandpa you never wanted to piss off cause you knew he’d beat your ass.

Amen, brah!

Would be great to see the tough guy roles of old, re-invented and brought back to life. Not remakes, but as a general blue-print.

Remember Lee Marvin in POINT BLANK? Remember Robert Mitchum in YAKUZA? And of course Clint as Harry was king! Those guys were infinitely cooler and bader than the Vin Diesel’s and Jason Stratham’s of the dull, modern day tough guy genre.

I think Brolin is the guy capable of doing it – his performance in AMERICAN GANGSTER, though brief, proves that he has the ‘edge’ required.

Let it come to pass…!
