The gods must be crazy if this rumor turns out to be true. Scratch that. The producers of Transformers 2 must be crazy. Word on the street is that Jonah Hill is in early talks to co-star in the sequel to last summer’s mega-awesome mega-hit as, one can only guess, the overweight comedic sidekick. EW indicates that he may be playing Sam’s college roommate.
I don’t hate Jonah Hill. He is funny. But is that what a second Transformers movie needs? More laughs? I’d rather trade laughs of explosions or more robots. Take Hill’s proposed salary and whip me up Arcee! I’ve made it well known that my position on Hill is that he is quickly becoming over exposed. This is a prime example. Going completely schizophrenic for a moment, if they insist on having a fat comedic sidekick, I’m sure Hill will fit the role and be funny. His reactions to giant robots stomping around should be good. But really, I’d like to see Transformers 2 up the action and keep the comedy level about the same – there were a lot of jokes in the first one.
Transformers 2 begins filming under Michael Bay’s (AWESOME) this summer.
