Jessica Simpson Wants to Remake Pretty Woman
Movie News By Michelle Graham on December 20, 2007 | (2) Comments
Apparently the rumor that Jessica Simpson is to play Sandy in an upcoming Grease remake has set the poor girl’s mind racing. After being linked with such an iconic role, she must have wondered what other ones would be possible to grab while she still has her talent (and doesn’t need plastic surgery to refresh it). Well, for any girl growing up in the 80s, there are only a few that spring to mind immediately, there’s Baby in Dirty Dancing (too plain for such a bombshell) or there’s Vivian in Pretty Woman. A cheap hooker who lives out a fairy tale and eventually gets Richard Gere to rescue her via limosine? Perfect for her! And according to Cinematical, this thought has apparently really occurred to her.
To anyone who lives outside the Jessica Simpson “bubble” (i.e. not her or her father, the manager), and is not blinded by the brilliance of her teeth, it’s obvious that this is just not a good plan. As loudly as her father shouts that Jessica is the next Julia Roberts, it won’t magically expand her talents or her shelf life. While a role like Daisy Duke might suit, I don’t think that the conflicted Vivian lies within her acting range. Or anywhere in the vicinity of it.
