Jay Baruchel and Seth Rogen Find Religion… Maybe.

Jay Baruchel and Seth Rogen are no strangers to controversial subjects, whether it’s porn, pregnancy, or the Vietnam war. But are they going after the holy rollers in Jay and Seth vs. The Apocalypse?
The film, based on a short Baruchel and Rogen made a few years ago, focuses on two roommates trapped in an apartment when the world starts to cave in around them. The YouTube clip, which inspired the film, took 2 days to shoot on a $1,000 dollar budget, and is pretty damn amazing.
FSR’s very own Robert Fure interviewed Baruchel over the weekend at the Tropic Thunder press junket. There he told us that “the short was made with Jason Stone, who had just graduated from USC, and wanted to have a calling card for potential directing jobs.” Looks like it worked out pretty well for Stone. “They put the trailer on YouTube and now it’s a feature film at some point next year.”
Baruchel also seemed a bit shocked that he will play such a big part. “It’s just weird that I will be in a movie where my name is in the title,” he explained, and gave a little love to our neighbors up north. “It’s amazing people think that the world wants to see a movie about two Canadians arguing during the Apocalypse. I mean I know I do! And my mother does.”
In an interview with CHUD, Baruchel said the film will definitely hit a controversial subject. “People will picket this movie,” he said. Hmm, could we have The Odd Couple meets Dogma? Maybe Seth and Jay find a forbidden love, kind of a Brokeback Messiah storyline? Whatever it is, you can be sure it will be hilarious.
What do you think of the Jay and Seth vs. The Apocalypse short? Who do you want to see them go after?
