Jason Statham Finds Himself In a London ‘Blitz’
Casting Couch By Rob Hunter on July 13, 2009 | (4) Comments
See what I did there? If you’re expecting news that Jason Statham has signed on for a film set during the harrowing London bombings of 1940-41 then I apologize… that’s not happening.
Instead, Statham will be starring in a London-based serial killer thriller called Blitz. The film is based on the best-selling novel by gritty Irishman Ken Bruen, and follows a police officer’s attempt to stop a serial killer who’s targeting his fellow cops. The film will also star the always excellent Paddy Considine as Statham’s partner.
Bruen seems to be the latest “it” author to catch the attention of movie makers, and that’s a good thing as his books are gritty, violent, and entertaining as hell (at least the three I’ve read so far are). He has another adaptation already in production called London Boulevard. That film is written by William Monahan (The Departed) and will also serve as his directorial debut. Colin Farrell, Keira Knightley, and Ray Winstone head up the cast.
Have you read any of Ken Bruen’s books?
