The first trailer for the upcoming actioner Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li might not speaka any English, but it certainly speaks to a part of me that loves fun kung fuey action. It also speaks to the part of me that weeps every time I think about how painful the last attempt at a Street Fighter movie was. As well, it speaks to that part of me that has a big thing for Kristin Kreuk. So Japanese or not, this trailer and I are communicating loud and clear. It is telling me that this film might actually turn out to be good. I am resisting though, as it is still too early to tell. Watch the trailer for yourself below.

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li hits theaters on February 27, 2009. It was directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak and stars Kristin Kreuk, Michael Clarke Duncan, Neal McDonough, Taboo, Chris Klein, Moon Bloodgood, Edmund Chen, Cheng Pei Pei, Josie Ho and Robin Shou.

When is that embargo on needless use of explosions in movies coming into force?
  • Ummm Wow. But I think this movie goes into my pile of "Attempted movies in the fighting videogame gig". Now come on, nothing ever comes good when they make these kinda movies. I'm awaiting until they make SoulCaliber the movie now that will be interestin' to make. Poor Chris Klein can't get good roles out there.

Looks like Made For TV crap. Reminds me of Martial Law.
  • The Capcom logo is a little silly, but I'll go out on a limb and say that this one actually looks pretty fun. Kristin Kreuk in the Chun-Lei buns? Awesome. A ton of martial arts and explosions? Awesome. Zero plot? Let's hope so.

I'm not sexist or anything but the entire Street Fighter series revolved around Ryu .They should have just left the franchise alone,in my opinion the Japanese Anime films were the real deal.I don't think they'll ever recover from the 1994 garbage that ruined it for everyone. GOD no, please dont tell me thats suppose to be M.Bison, why Capcom WHYYYYY!!!!!????

It just doesn't feel like Street Fighter. Too many bullets, not enough hadokens.

Not mention that Bison has neither a red dictator's uniform nor a huge malevolent grin. C'mon, at least give me the hat. Even without the giant muscles.

I hear yah man.I would have given it a chance until they decided to jack up Bison, and make him look like one of the help. Can you honestly see this guy doing the Psycho Crusher?LOL

even though Street Fighter in 94 was somewhat butchered. at least raul Julia, in my opinion, pulled off a decent M. Bison.
