James Wong Signs on to Direct Dragon Ball Z

Posted by Neil Miller (neil@filmschoolrejects.com) on October 2, 2007

post-dragonballz.jpgWhen it comes to the Dragon Ball Z phenomenon, I am at a complete lost. I know it has something to do with cards and a little kid who is trying to gather together a bunch of “dragon balls”. So needless to say, when word came in today from a scooper over at CHUD that Final Destination director James Wong is currently in the process of casting his adaptation of Dragon Ball I was less than enthused. In fact, the involvement of James Wong, of whom I am not a fan, only compounded my lack of interest in the project, which is said to be ready for a November start.

CHUD also got their hands on some casting details, which can be found here. As for this whole Dragon Ball thing, I’m still at a lost. Hopefully there are some fans out there who can enlighten me in the comment area below.

DRAGONBALL Z AND NINJA SCROLL LIVE ACTION MOVIES.

20th Century Fox is making the live action movie of Dragonball Z and James Wong is directing and writing the script and the story will follow on Goki.
Threshold Entertainment member Larry Kasanoff still has the rights to Madhouse's Ninja Scroll series and I think we can help them with ideas on the director and the script and Madhouse will join forces with Threshold on the story and the character developments.

Just take it as something that Hollywood is making so that people in Japan and all over the world will boycott it
  • Well first of all, Dragon Ball has nothing to do whatsoever with cards (I believe the card show is the kiddy Yu-Gi-Oh show). And the only time the story focused on Goku as a 12 year old finding the Dragon Balls were the first arc and the Red Ribbon Army arc.

Second, even though I'm a huge fan of Dragon Ball, I COMPLETLEY agree with you that this movie will suck. James Wong is the no-talent hack who's given us cinematic abortions such as Final Destination 3 and The One, plus they hired the world's skinniest, wimpiest guy to play Goku.

I am boycotting this movie and there is a petition against it as well. Just search in google or yahoo, search something like db lam protest or something and it should come up.
