avatar-toy-1Earlier today we posted a poster from the upcoming sci-fi epic Avatar, the latest from director James Cameron. At the time, we were weary of the poster’s validity, but also quite impressed with it, real or fake. As it turns out, 20th Century Fox has confirmed for us this evening that the post is, in fact, the real deal.

In conjunction with the new poster — which can be seen again below — there is also a new look at one of the film’s characters — the avatar of Jake Scully, played by Sam Worthington — via a toy. The toy has shown up over on CHUD and is said to be a fairly accurate representation as to what the alien Na’vi look like.

You can check the image out by clicking it at the right and seeing the hi-res shot over at CHUD. To me, this figure looks cool, but I’m still waiting to see how the Avatar story plays out. We all know that it’s going to have some awesome visuals, but will it keep our attention or just flash us and walk by. That remains to be seen. Either way, I have a feeling this action figure will also be in stunning 3D… literally.

Avatar is in theaters December 18, 2009.

What do you think of the look of the Na’vi?
