James Bond’s Quantum of Solace Theme Leaks Online

Posted by Neil Miller (neil@filmschoolrejects.com) on September 18, 2008

First there was the background music to a Coke Zero commercial that spilled the beats on Jack White’s theme creation for the upcoming James Bond flick Quantum of Solace, and now this. The track, which features vocals from Alicia Keys and is titled “Another Way to Die,” has hit the web. My first impression is that I love the tune, with some killer guitar riffs and some heavy beats, but I am not a fan of the vocals. They are just, as they say, okay. Give it a listen for yourself below and let me know what you think in the comment area.

  • ew. "You Know My Name" is way better. I hate Alicia Keys.

I like the opening 20 seconds, but the actual song is pretty poor. To be positive... it sounds like it was designed to be seen WITH the opening credits, so it might be okay in the context it was designed for. But, pretty unimpressive -- and a shame they went with two American singers when there's so much BRITISH talent around now. "Goldeneye" was the last song that was truly a BOND THEME, though. Everything after that has been pretty poor, although I quite liked The World Is Not Enough. Shame this song shares half its title with Madonna's track "Die Another Day" just 2 movies ago, as well!

mainstream music has never sucked so hard, and drinking Coke zero will make you stupid. I see a trend here,,, hmmmm
  • sticky thump
jack whites genius feels trampled here
outstanding primitive musical roots ruined by a pop ideal
this scares me to think what may lie ahead
  • stickythump
    alicia keys ruined this

    Garbage. The riffs even suck.
  • I believe this is a good song, but not as a bong theme. Everything signifies it as a bond theme except that chorus, although its a great rock song and i believe an awesome collaboration, its just not bond worthy.

The Song does kind of suck but i love jack white and i think it was a mistake to mix two different genres cause jacks much more experimental and alicia just is terrible she just screechs.

I didn't think I'd like this at first, the collaboration or the song itself. After the second listen, I don't think it's that bad, I just don't think it's the best Bond theme (especially after Chris Cornell's brilliant song). This sounds kind of like a Guitar Hero cover version of "Iron Man" in parts and sure, "You Know My Name" is clearly superior. How anyone can "hate" Alicia Keys, though, is beyond me - and I don't think I would go so far as to call Jack White a genius either. Talented, yes! Genius? Ehh.. not yet.

And Coke Zero is worse than Crystal Pepsi. YUCK.
