The folks over at Trailer Addict have posted the first look that we’ve seen from Game, the Gerard Butler led actioner written and directed by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, the creators of the Crank franchise. Game is a “high-concept” action thriller set in the near future, a time when mind-control technology has taken society by storm. Humans control other humans in a mass-scale, multiplayer online game. Reclusive billionaire Ken Castle (Michael C. Hall) has created the controversial form of entertainment, “Slayers,” a hugely popular game that allows millions to act out their innermost desires and fantasies – online – in front of a global audience. Gaming has evolved into a terrifying new dimension — mind control, manipulation and people playing people.

At the center is Kable (Butler), the superstar and cult hero of “Slayers,” the savage, ultraviolent first person shooter game. Kable is controlled by Simon, a young gamer with rock star status who continues to defy all odds by guiding Kable to victory each week. Taken from his family, imprisoned and forced to fight against his will, the modern day gladiator must survive long enough to escape the game to free his family, regain his identity and to save mankind from Castle’s ruthless technology.

Yep, sounds exactly like Tron, but with Gerard Butler and bullets. Still, it should be fun. Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor do have an eye for the hyper-violent. Game is scheduled to hit theaters on September 4, 2009. Check out the Italian trailer below, courtesy of Trailer Addict and JoBlo.

  • I knew this movie was going to be badass the moment I finished reading the plot synopsis and that Gerard Butler was starring...trailer looks fantastic. Two great trailers in one day? It's too much to handle!!
  • this looks great...I can't say enough good words about Neveldine/Taylor they know how to turn out entertaining action flicks...this could help films like Halo get made a lot sooner

I'm wondering how much better Jonah Hex would have been if they had stayed on the project... I don't think the director of Horton Hears A Who is going to be able to make a gritty western...
  • Boooo!! They taken off the damn vid what an ass for all of those film industries they always pull out the trailers I assumed they want you to go see the movie that is attached to this trailer just to see it. Oh well based on Homero and Christopher's review it might be good. Love Gerard Butler.
