Last April, the Hollywood Reporter … um … reported that Universal Studios was making a fourth Fast and the Furious film.

Back then, the word was Chris Morgan, who wrote the successful third installment of the series, was being tapped for the next chapter.

Now, the automotive site Edmunds reports more details have been leaked by the ever-blabby “sources close to the production.”

The project is in preproduction, with no set production start date or director.

Fans might expect to see some familiar faces. Rumor has it the movie will bring back stars from the previous three films, including Lucas Black, Tyrese Gibson, Paul Walker and — of course — Vin Diesel. (C’mon, with a name like that, how can you not do car movies?)

The story will reportedly be set in Rio de Janeiro. The cars might include a mix of classic American and Latin American muscle.

Sounds like a recipe for high-octane ass-kickin’.
