Since the release of Wedding Crashers, Isla Fisher seems to be the talk of the town. If by saying “that town” I was referring to the streets of the interwebs. She has since appeared in the critically acclaimed flick The Lookout with the Indie version of Shia Labeouf, Joseph Gordon-Levitt. She has also been spotted dating Borat himself, Sasha Baron Cohen. Now she will be snuggling up to Uber-Producer Jerry Bruckheimer in The Secret Dreamworld of a Shopaholic. The film is based on the novel “Confessions of a Shopaholic” by Sophie Kinsella.
From JoBlo:
“In the film, Fisher will star as Rebecca Bloomwood, a recent college graduate working as a financial journalist in New York City. Things are going well in her life with the exception of one thing: she’s a shopaholic (how’d you guess?). The bills are piling up fast and she’s forced to creatively find solutions to her mounting debt while falling in love with a highly successful entrepreneur she’s highlighting for the magazine.”
As JoBlo’s Mike Sampson points out, the flick sounds very much like The Devil Wears Prada (but somehow, not as much like The Nanny Diaries sounds like The Devil Wears Prada). Despite the similarities, I for one am not into missing anything related to Isla Fisher. Why do you think I own a copy of Scooby Doo? I sure as shit didn’t buy it for Matthew Lillard.
As for the film, it was adapted for the screen by The Guru scribe Tracey Jackson and will be directed by PJ Hogan (My Best Friend’s Wedding). Filming is scheduled to begin in November in New York.
On the Side: In other, unrelated but more saddening news, Isla Fisher is pregnant. She still looks alright, though. See below.
