I have been learning a lot about director Lexi Alexander this week. And no, I did not just realize that she is (a) very attractive and (b) a former kick boxing champion. I realized, in seeing both Green Street Hooligans and Punisher: War Zone that she has a wonderful eye for action. Few other directors can take a simple, close quarters fight and make it as brutal and fun. She also appears to have a thing for gun play, which is fine by me.

All of this might come in handy if she were to put some action behind a project about which she’s been very chatty over the past few days: Jonah Hex. As you might remember, the project has stalled a bit since the departure of Brian Taylor and Mark Neveldine (Crank), but Warner Bros. is still actively searching for someone to take the reigns.

George over at Latino Review had a moment with Lexi at this week’s Punisher premiere, where he asked her whether or not she liked the scripts. “I do. I like it even more that Mr. Josh Brolin is still attached,” she explained. “Who knows if he’ll stay, but it’s more exciting than I thought. You get a story like this you think, ‘Oh God, I’m going to be doing the same thing over and over again.’ but it’s really, really interesting.”

Even though her performance isn’t certain as of yet, that won’t stop us from talking about it. The fact that she has the script and is showing enthusiasm is a very good thing. And even through all of the crazy rumors that came out of the production of Punisher: War Zone, I’ve still heard so many great things about Lexi as a director. Secretly we all know that whatever trouble was brewing back then was probably the work of a certain studio with an already tarnished reputation. I’ll give you a hint — it isn’t Marvel. As for Jonah Hex, I think it would be a good fit for Lexi. As I said before, she’s got a real thing about guns and violence. I won’t lie to you, it sort of turns me on, both as a movie fan and a red-blooded male.

Do you think that Lexi Alexander would be a good choice to direct Jonah Hex?
