Iron Man: Is This War Machine?

Iron Man War Machine

Images of a Wal-Mart Exclusive toy called “Iron Man – Stealth Operations” have recently started to appear on a few online outlets. To any fan of the comic, the resemblance to the War Machine armor is very clear. And with the casting of Terrence Howard as Jim Rhodes, perhaps we’ll get a glimpse of the real deal War Machine. In the comic books, Rhodes stepped in as War Machine, an Iron Man replacement, when Stark had to abandon the job for awhile.

War Machine later went on to have several of his own comic appearances and without a doubt looked bad-ass, often equipped to the teeth with more visible weapons than the traditional Iron Man costume.

So while these pics are no guarantee that we will get a War Machine in the new upcoming Iron Man flick, the packaging and the costume design seem to indicate that this release is definitely tied into the new upcoming flick and that the War Machine armor may appear at some time or another.

And for the curious, a picture of War Machine from Avengers: The Initiative #1 (November 2007):

Sound Off: What do you think, is this War Machine?

Sure looks like war machine, shoulder mounted rockets and all. Would love to see Rhodes make like a cavalry save.

do they make a Kevin Carr version? It would take a lot of iron.
  • And with his shoulder blaster, War Machine should also be sporting a Ghetto Blaster screeching "YOU KNOW IT'S HARD OUT HERE FOR A PIMP!"

And Cody, a Kevin Carr model would take something stronger than iron to case all that girthiness. Can someone make an artist rendering?

Obtaining enough iron to make Kevin an iron suit would definitely help the GDP in these weakening economic times
  • Yeah, but not if they sell it at Wal-Mart for $14.96.
  • Definitely looks like it.
  • Anthony
Don't know if we'll see him in the suit but on the back of the pack it states that Jim Rhodes wears this armor on missions that are too dangerous for Tony Stark.

It looks like War machine with the rockets, machine gun, and coloring. I would love to see both of those caracters in the movie (Iron Man and War Machine). This is the only movie that I'm really exited about watching.
  • jef
it looks like the prototype of the iron man in the movie. but the array of weapons make it look like war machine
