In their Comic-Con Preview, Entertainment Weekly online has released an awesome new still from Iron Man, Jon Favreau’s flick that is set to make a big splash next week at Comic-Con. As you already know, we will be there in full force covering all of the week’s happenings. Who else will be there? As EW found out, just about everyone.
Not only will fans be flocking to the Paramount Panel on Thursday afternoon for Iron Man, they will also be looking forward to an update from J.J. Abrams on both 1-18-08 and the Star Trek project.
The article details the rise of Comic-Con, a small comic-book festival that started in 1970 but today draws over 120,000 people from all over the world. What started with just comic books (and a little booth for an up and coming filmmaker named George Lucas to show off his flick Star Wars) has grown into the Mecca of fanboy-ism. But it’s not just about the fanboys this year, as plenty of celebs (including Clive Owen, Jessica Alba, Robert Downey Jr., Edward Norton, Judd Apatow and even Tim Burton) will be on hand to build buzz for their upcoming films.
As this is my own first experience at Comic-Con, the size of this whole thing has not yet had a chance to sink in. That will probably happen sometime during the Paramount Panel on day 1 as filmmakers, producers and talent alike show off the movies of tomorrow. But alas, the star-struck moment will have to pass — I will have to get to blogging. We’ve got a huge Con to cover!
