Personally, I didn’t think he could do it. When director Quentin Tarantino claimed back in June of last year that he would have Inglourious Basterds ready to go by this year’s Cannes Film Festival in May, we were all skeptical. In fact, we were so not sold that we were voting on a Justice League movie to be finished before Tarantino’s World War II film ever saw the light of day. As it turns out, we were way off.

As Variety reports, Tarantino’s film will not only be done in time, but is now definitely set to premiere at Cannes. Of course, they are reporting all of this without comment from Universal Pictures or The Weinstein Co., the film’s two financiers, or the Cannes Fest organizers — so its possible that this is complete hogwash. But hey, if “insiders” are saying that it’s true, it must be true.

Also on the Inglourious beat, the folks at Vanity Fair have published a brand new set of photos of the film’s cast, including a first look at Mélanie Laurent as Shosanna Dreyfus, the film’s main character. You can check out those below.

Should be pretty sweet. Tarantino does it again! It's not a return to form because I really liked the Kill Bills and Death Proof (even though Planet Terror was better).

Don't get me wrong, I hate Nazis as much as the next guy around, but doesn't anyone else find it ironic having Jews killing Nazis during WWII?? Is that really irony or justice or revenge? Either way, I'm excited for a Tarantino flick with lots of blood and gore...if only there can be some sort of Walken cameo
