infestation-header

Big bug movies come in two varieties.  You have the serious horror films like Them!, Mosquito, and Bug, and you have the horror comedies like Eight Legged Freaks, Tremors, and maybe Starship Troopers.  Now one more movie can be added to that second list… let’s just hope it’s closer to Tremors than Eight Legged Freaks.

Check out the trailer for Infestation.  (Or head over to Icon Entertainment for a prettier Quicktime version.)

Color me impressed.  Great looking effects, some good laughs, some bouncing cleavage, and the incredibly awesome Ray Wise.  I also like that they’re mixing up the bug types as opposed to sticking with just spiders or wasps.  Now the movie needs a release date more specific than simply 2009…

Also of note, Infestation is the solo directorial debut of Kyle Rankin.  You may remember him and his partner, Efram Potelle, from HBO’s Project Greenlight and their film The Battle of Shaker Heights.  The duo has made multiple shorts together along with that one feature, but honestly this looks to be Rankin’s best work yet.

What do you think of the trailer?  Is it time for another giant bug movie?
