Iconic Shots: Empire Captures 50 Picture Perfect Film Moments

I had a hard time choosing just one, so here are my favorites:

Image #9 from Casablanca. It is perhaps one of (if not) the penultimate image(s) from the great film.

Image #15 from E.T. The bike with the moon background...every time I see this original, I can't help but be reminded of the spoof of it with the bus in one of the Naked Gun movies (At least...I think its the Naked Gun movies...I know one of the two old women is the mother of the Zucker brothers).

Image #30 from Manhattan. The couple on the bench with the bridge looming in the background is ephemeral and beautiful. I took a photo similar to this of a bridge by my apartment in Connecticut.

Image #37 from Raiders of the Lost Ark. Harrison Ford. Henry Jones Jr ("We named the dog Indianna"). Enough said.

#39 from Rocky. They still have the bronze statue at the foot of the stairs (as opposed to the top like in the movies).

#41 from The Seven Year Itch. While not one of my favorite Marilyn features, the subway-grate image is perhaps the most famous of any that were taken of her, with the exception of Tom Kelley's eventual Playboy photos or Milton Greene's photos that grace every calendar you see in Borders or Barnes & Noble.

#45 from Singin' in the Rain. It's such a good movie. Gene Kelly was one heck of a performer. I also have a childhood picture of me posing with the umbrella and light post in Disney World's Hollywood Studios (formerly MGM Studios).

#50 from The Wizard of Oz. My wife and I recently went to London for our honeymoon, and their big department store Harrod's is celebrating 75 years of WoO. There are employees dressed as Dorothy and characters, and you can buy a pair of the ruby slippers. The floor is decorated with a yellow brick road decal.

While I really want to list the Casablanca picture, I oh-so-vividly recall watching it on the big screen during the 50th Anniversary run. I literally stopped breathing during the first close up of Ingrid Bergman so i would have chosen that instead. (Hey, I'm a guy! lol)

The Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid picture so sums up the fim for me. Always hope, despite the odds.

The Good Bad and The Ugly picture so perfectly encapsulates all that is the icon of Clint Eastwood.

The shot of King Kong holding Faye Wray is so damn perfect, even 80 years later.

North By Northwest - I still look over my shoulder everytime I hear a low flying plane.

Needs more Kubrick

i liked, in this order: rocky, manhattan, wizard of oz, ET, a clockwork orange.

ha, this was the perfect midnight scroll! my faves were american beauty, breakfast at tiffany's, ET, lion king (sorry, always been my fave!), psycho, the shining, the graduate and wizard of oz. ok that's more than expected :)

woulda picked a different one for the excorcist: floating body, head spun backwards, or some point in green projectile vomit
