‘I Sell The Dead’ Trailer Needs More Corpses

If you ever felt there was a need to extend the Bring Out Your Dead scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, it looks like writer/director Glenn McQuaid is delivering. I Sell the Dead is a horror comedy which recounts the exploits of a grave robber confessing to a priest on the eve of his execution. According to the official synopsis, Arthur Blake (Dominic Monaghan) tells his story growing up in the trade, joining forces with the master ghoul Willie Grimes (Larry Fessenden), and, you know, fighting off the not-quite-dead monsters that go bump in the graveyard.

According to the trailer, it looks awesome. And hilarious:

There’s not a lot of dialog, but I imagine the movie will have a lot of dry conversations. However, the story sounds really intriguing, and a lot of the adventure could easily be played for laughs. And yes, that was Ron Perlman as the priest.

This looks like it has a ton of potential – maybe as a darker, more zombie-fied version of The Brothers Grimm. Either way, put a kid eating a rabbit in a trailer, and I’m sold.

What do you think?

  • Dominic Monaghan really hasn't done much to impress me, or much at all for that matter, but he brings a type of quirky fun to this trailer. The ghouls look comical, the music is spot on, and my goodness, who ever heard of "trafficking the undead"?

Clearly you didn't pay your way through college.
  • I reserve the deepest respect for Monaghan's admirers. I, however, am not one of them.
  • Other than for the sake of back-pedaling, why exactly would you have the deepest respect for fans of Monaghan?
  • I won't pretend he is a poor actor, because he isn't, and in that aspect I have respect for his admirers. The fact of the matter is that, although possessing solid acting chops, none of Monaghan's roles have been entertaining in the least. Is that a bit of a strong conviction? Maybe so, but it's a matter of personal preference that I don't believe is worth splitting hairs about.

Never sell yourself as a cult classic in the making.

I just have one question....Is Ron Pearlman in every movie coming out these days? I swear if he isn't starring in it he is a supporting actor in some form or fashion. Hell I wouldn't put it past him to have been one of the costumed characters in all the Star Wars movies.
  • Looks cheesy =/
  • Looks pretty entertaining. I'm happy to see Monaghan doing more work. i'll see it.
