Hugo Weaving Will Hunt ‘The Wolf Man’
In Production By Cole Abaius on February 22, 2008 | Be the First To Comment
No, the man behind Agent Smith and the Guy Fawkes mask isn’t quitting acting to hunt down mythological creatures for sport. He’ll be too busy joining Benecio del Toro, Anthony Hopkins and Emily Blunt for Universal’s remake of The Wolf Man.
Variety has the full scoop.
Weaving will play Detective Aberline, which I’m assuming is an updated version of Colonel Montford – originally played by Ralph Bellamy, hunting down the werewolf menace. Of course, del Toro will be transforming between man and beast, Hopkins plays his father and Blunt will play an as-yet-unnamed love interest.
It’s scheduled for a February 2009 release. Apparently Universal doesn’t think it has a shot at the Oscar.
No word yet on whether Lon Chaney will be summoned back from the dead to play a Zombie Wolfman.
