This leads me to wonder that if the homework doesn't get finished, or the TV doesn't get watched (or the phone doesn't get picked up)…do you then survive? If so…it makes a strong case for those procrastinators who never do their homework.

I think it looks very 80s as well and that bottom tagline – LoL! Are we sure this movie isn't from the 80s and was really unearthed only to be marketed as originally intended?

It certainly does…kind of a throwback look to one of those VHS covers so prevalent in the 80's and 90's (before the likes of Blockbuster and Hollywood Video). You'd find these in the local “Mom-and-Pop” video stores under the laminated paper “Horror” sign.
