bond22_1.jpgPart of the upcoming 22nd Bond film will take place at the equine version of the Death Race 2000.

CommanderBond.net posted pics of Daniel Craig watching the Palio di Siena horse race from afar, as crews shot documentary-style footage of the race .

The Palio di Siena race has been put on by a bunch crazy muthafuckin’ Tuscans since medieval times. Ten horses and riders basically tear around the public square of historic Siena for three laps. The dirt track is canted at a dangerous angle. The riders whip their own horses … and their opponents’ horses … and their opponents.

I am not making this shit up.

Presumably because the race is rather dangerous and controversial, the organizers put some special conditions on the 007 crew’s filming.

CommanderBond.net reports “The crew were ordered to shoot the race in strict documentary-style, with no manipulation or ridiculing of the event, and no shots of violence involving horses or people to be included. A reported total of 14 cameras were strategically placed around the event, but no helicopter shots were permitted.”

The as-yet-untitled “Bond 22″ is due in theaters Nov. 7, 2008.
