Heavy Drinking and Denial in New Quantum of Solace Clips

Daniel Craig in Quantum of Solace

A while back, we made Quantum of Solace our top pick for the Must-See Remaining Movies of 2008, propelled mostly by how awesome the current James Bond is and by the constant stream of leaked videos, trailers, title songs and gritty, revenge-filled photos.

Since it’s been a month, the production has released some new videos to keep us on the edge of our seat, but instead of showing us some gunfire, fistfights or some revenge-filled explosions, these videos seem to show that Bond, James Bond has turned to the bottle and denying his love for Vesper. A little emo. Maybe, a little too emo, but you can be the judge of that:

Downing whiskey? Reaching for the wine bottle? Swimming in passive-aggressiveness? I’m guessing M will have to have an intervention before the end of the movie’s revenge-filled run time.

James, we’re doing this because we love you.

What do you think? Are these clips a missing some bon bons and tissue or do they ensure a killing spree brought on by repressed anger and a wicked hangover?

Good questions and its hard to say without knowing what comes before or after these scenes. The 1st clip pulls at the heart strings and pours salt on the wound but is isn't drawn out. The way Bond grabs the wine bottle or downs the Scotch hints at pending violence.

No question this will be more emotional than Casino Royale (or maybe any Bond flick), but Craig is the perfect Bond for it. Sean Connery is the only other Bond that could go on a rage as well as Daniel Craig. I can't wait!

I like it. Daniel Craig makes it seem badass, and that's what I want from Bond.

Watch the second video. Notice all of the changes in his collar. Opps! I think so.
