In shocking news today, Heath Ledger - the most current incarnation of The Joker in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film The Dark Knight - was found dead in his New York City apartment. The cause of death is still unknown.

CNN has a short blurb regarding the Oscar-nominated actor.

Update: The New York Times has confirmed that Ledger was found dead in his SOHO apartment earlier this afternoon. His masseuse went to his apartment and found him in his bedroom unconscious.

Shocking, almost at loss for words. A dark day in film history. What a fine actor we’ve lost.

RIP.

Jordan says:

jesus. what a loss. he had such promise. i hope its not suicide like its being reported, he had so much to live for. its weird to wish for a regular death, but at least then it wasn’t his choice to abandon his child.

I was shocked when i put on the BBC News this afternoon. I didn’t believe it until I did a Google News search to confirm this. It really is a sad day. I’m not ruling anything yet about his death. The media can always make this seem like an OD case. I can only hope for a complication with medication due to on going condition.

I hope Nolan dedicates Dark Knight to Ledger no matter the outcome.

People have rumoured that Michelle Williams was at Sundance promoting the film Incendiary, but I read that she was not from several other sources at Sundance. In fact it was assumed she has been in Sweden working on another film. Can you confirm if she was or not?
