Hating Jews in Hollywood is a Bad Idea

mel1.jpgSo apparently hating Jews in Hollywood is a bad idea. Just ask Mel Gibson. While other actors of his generation, like Harrison Ford and Bruce Willis, are out trying to re-prove their vitality by making multi-million-dollar fourth installments of the action series they starred in during their younger years (Live Free or Die Hard and Indiana Jones and the City of the Gods, respectively), Gibson “will never be allowed to work on a big-budget movie again,” reports Hollywood.com.

The infamous anti-Semitic remarks made by Mel Gibson during his July 2006 DUI arrest have come back yet again to haunt the actor/director; at the U.K. DVD launch of the Mark Wahlberg action film Shooter, Lethal Weapon 4 writer Jonathan Lemkin made the following statement:

“I don’t know if there will be a Lethal Weapon 5 because I don’t think studio bosses will have [Gibson] in those kind of big summer films. He did make hateful statements. I don’t know how his rehabilitation went—and he is a wonderful actor and filmmaker, but he is a hate monger.”

As you can see, there are no hard feelings between the Jewish screenwriter and the conservative Catholic actor/filmmaker.

For those of you who missed the coverage of Gibson’s drunken tirade last summer because you were either living under a rock or dead, here is an excerpt from TMZ.com that dishes on the juiciest parts (although they used little stars to bleep out the swears… but I took the liberty of fixing that for you):

The report says Gibson then launched into a barrage of anti-Semitic statements: “Fucking Jews… The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world.” Gibson then asked the deputy, “Are you a Jew?”

The deputy became alarmed as Gibson’s tirade escalated, and called ahead for a sergeant to meet them when they arrived at the station. When they arrived, a sergeant began videotaping Gibson, who noticed the camera and then said, “What the fuck do you think you’re doing?”

A law enforcement source says Gibson then noticed another female sergeant and yelled, “What do you think you’re looking at, sugar tits?”

Yeah, so Mel Gibson is an awesome representative of the Hollywood motion picture industry. Honestly, you’d think that Gibson would have known better than to bash Jews in Hollywood, considering that they’ve basically owned the industry since its conception in the early twentieth century (the majority of men who founded the industry as we know it today were Jewish: Marcus Loew, Adolph Zukor, Sam Goldwyn, Carl Laemmle, the Selznicks, Jesse Lasky, William Fox, the Warner brothers, Louis B. Mayer, B. P. Schulberg, and Harry Cohn, to name a few…). Dumbass.
