machete-1

Sylvester Stallone’s upcoming action romp The Expendables is an exciting prospect for a couple reasons, but the biggest is the impressive cast he’s assembled around him. Now Robert Rodriguez is moving forward with his long-rumored flick Machete and it looks like may have one-upped the sexagenarian stallion in the casting department.

Per Variety, Danny Trejo as Machete will be joined by Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Lindsay Lohan, Cheech Marin, Don Johnson, Jeff Fahey, Steven Seagal, and Robert DeNiro.

Many of these (or all) will be supporting roles, but it’s still an impressive list.  Not impressive in regards to their acting skills obviously (excluding Marin), but it’s a pretty cool list of B-level actors. What the hell Lohan is doing there I don’t know…

Also worth noting in the Variety post is that Rodriguez will apparently be co-directing with newcomer Ethan Maniquis. I have nothing to say about that, but figured it may be mildly interesting to somebody.

What do you think of the cast? Does it make you any more/less interested in the movie?

The past tense of "Cast" is "Cast." "Casted" is not a word!

I always liked 90% of the people they mentioned, especially Marin and Johnson. Lets see what the actual script looks like and the level of nudity involved. lol

Deniro is obviously doing the film as a favor to Trejo. And it looks as if Rodriguez is trying to pull a Tarantino with Don Johnson and resurrect his career. It could work for Johnson if the movie turns out to be any good.
  • I don't think it trumps The Expendables' cast, but it's damn close!
