Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Trailer Debuts Online

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

It has become clear to me, as someone who has not read the Harry Potter books, that the series gets creepier and creepier as you get closer to the end. Perhaps our more Potter-savvy readers can confirm or deny this for me, but I have a feeling that it is getting dark in the cinematic universe of young Mr. Potter. And as someone who is giddy for darkness, I will admit that this excites me. As evidence of the darkness, allow me to present to you the first trailer for the upcoming sixth film, which shows Dumbledore cluing Harry Potter into the early days of a child named Tom Riddle. And as you will discover, young Tom becomes quite famous in the end.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince hits theaters on November 21, 2008. The trailer is also available in high definition over at AOL Moviefone.

What do you think of the first teaser trailer?

  • So let me get this straight, a wise, bearded old-man (Obi Wan) takes a young, powerful child (Anakin) under his wing and said child ultimately becomes the most damning, evil, and dangerous warrior. Said old-man then later takes another young powerful child (Luke) and sets him on the path of defeating the prior student.

    Hm.
  • You should see it when Voldemort cuts Harry's hand off and then Harry has to drop down into the Millenium Falcon.
  • The Comedian

  • oh chilling, what a good teaser!
  • Meepit
The fifth movie was horrible in my opinio- wait this trailor is for the 6th right? Dang I lost count, they need to end this thing already.

I only read up to the 4th book, so once the 5th movie hit I was lost...but watching this trailer gave me chills...looks kind of exciting! :)

a wise, bearded old-wizard (Dumbledore) takes a young, powerful child (Voldemort) under his wing and said child ultimately becomes the most damning, evil, and dangerous wizard. Said old-man then later takes another young powerful child (Harry) and (*sets him on the path of defeating the prior student*). Wrong.
Dumbledore does not set Harry Potter on the path to defeating prior student. Its his destiny. I dont recall it being the destiny of Anakin to kill darth vader.....
  • I agree with Meepit I hated the last movie.

Since I am a big fan of the books, Order of Phoenix was disappointing because it felt like they removed all the important bits.

    This however looks promising.

And Neil if I might suggest the Harry Potter books as read by Stephen Fry :)
  • trailer looks good... I liked Order of the Phoenix, but I'm pretty sure Yates will be able to make some improvements for this latest installment.
  • @Nevernude. Of course it wasn't Anakin's destiny to kill Vader, it was Luke's destiny to defeat him. If you fail to see the parallels between the stories, I don't know what to say to you. A constant theme of the Potter films is how the destiny of Potter is tied to Voldemort and Dumbledore clearly knows what the situation is and could even be accused of using Potter.
