Harry Potter 6 International Trailer Brings About Darkness

Harry Potter and the Massive Amount of New Pics

I will be the first to tell you that I haven’t read any of the Harry Potter books — I just don’t have that kind of time. So I have no idea what is going on beyond the most recently released film. But what I can tell you from all of the promotional materials that I’ve seen from the upcoming Potter film, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, it appears to be much darker than previous films. And as someone who likes my movies to be dark and exciting and whatnot, thats a turn for the better.

Check out the new International trailer below, which comes to us courtesy of YouTube. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince hits standard and IMAX theaters on July 17, 2009.

  • I haven’t seen any of the Harry Potter films because I never was a fan of it but this new film now makes me want to watch all of the Harry Potter movies for the first time in my life and maybe read the books of each movie there’re based on for the first time in my life too!
  • Kangaroo Be Stoned
    Read the books first.
  • No, don't - trust me, if you read the book first, the movies will likely piss you off. I'm a fan of both but I can tell you, the change in director and the tendency to half-ass the subplots has me cringing over this movie. I'll still see it... every trailer I watch makes me more excited to see it, but I have to wonder just what they've left out THIS time.
  • The time will fly by while reading all things Potter. If you don't read the book, some of the things that happen in the movie will have you scratching your head wondering what did I miss. Many times I called in sick so I could finish the book. I took the deaths really hard, I could not imagine how the young readers were dealing with it. It will be a long time before another story comes along that captures the imagination and make you feel as though you are part of the story. I bought the collectors editions that have additional commentary by JK. Take your time and read the books, you will not be disappointed.

This is especially obvious in the 3rd & 5th movies, but #4 does this too. My DH hasn't read the books so he points this stuff out to me.

I almost did this myself, but I got lucky - book #7 hit shelves just before my 37th b-day, so I demanded it as a present. Took my b-day off and read it in 22 hours, then immediately read the entire series through again. lol

"I took the deaths really hard, I could not imagine how the young readers were dealing with it."
Me too... the one at the end of #6 (I won't say who to avoid spoilers) had me in tears. So did a few at the opening of #7. But the kick-in-the-gut were the last few to die at the end of #7. More tears...
  • The last book was timed perfectly. I too stayed up and devoured the book. And then read it again a month later, savoring every page because I knew it was the end ;-(.

interesting....when did Gandalf decide to no longer search for treasure and instead teach children how to become wizards...i'm so confused
  • All will be revealed! Each person picked to play these characters in my opinion were perfectly cast. I perosnally do not like Ralph Fiennes acting, therefore I do not like him in this role. I would have picked someone more menacing. Even the young actor who played Tom Marvolo Riddle was a nasty little bugger.
  • I would've loved to have seen Christian Coulson play teenage Tom again, but of course he's too old now. He was just so wonderfully creepy!

What a great trailer. I hope Rickman gets a lot of screen time.
