According to Variety, Greg Berlanti has signed on to direct the upcoming Green Lantern movie. He’s going to be taking on scripting duties as well, along with Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green. Berlanti is hoping to make the jump to the big-budget films after directing several TV series, such as Everwood. With a lot of experience between the writers, this film is off to a quick start.
Green Lantern is a highly anticipated film and has drawn much speculation as to whether or not it will be made. With a huge cult following and now a director, it looks like the popular comic book series will make it to the big screen. Green Lantern was created in 1940, and features Hal Jordan, a test pilot who is charged with defending a sector of the universe.
Green Lantern looks to hit theaters in 2009.
