‘Great Directors’ Trailer Gets Deep With Film Icons
Movie News By Cole Abaius on April 28, 2010 | 1 Comment
If you’re a film fan and not, say, a deep sea fishing enthusiast who stumbled across this site while googling Twilight, you should get a rush out of the trailer for Great Directors. It’s a simple title for what seems like a simple, old school documentary style of filmmaking – taking subjects, sitting them down, and talking.
Of course, this method only really works when the subjects are fascinating. Fortunately, I think out of Bernardo Bertolucci, Catherine Breillat, Liliana Cavani, Stephen Frears, Todd Haynes, Richard Linklater, Ken Loach, David Lynch, John Sayles, and Agnes Varda, you might be able to find someone you’re interested in listening to regarding their filmmaking process.
Seriously. Director Angela Ismailos has put together a veritable dream team:
What’s even better? This sort of documentary could easily be expanded to another ten directors and another and another.
Great Directors hits theaters July 2nd.
