Give Mom a Sweet Slice of Pie on Mother’s Day!

I have to say, this could be one of the coolest movie promotions I have seen in a long time. If you are like me and you are constantly in search of a good gift for your beloved mom for Mother’s Day, look no further. The folks behind the film Waitress and the Adrienne Shelly Foundation have teamed up with CoverGirl, HGTV, Martha Stewart Living and Blueprint to bring you one of the sweetest gift ideas since, well… Pie.

On Mother’s Day, Sunday May 13, you can take your mom to a special screening of Waitress, starring Kerri Russell and directed by the late Adrienne Shelly at 2 p.m. at select theaters across the country. Attendees will receive a special gift bag with gifts from CoverGirl, HGTV, Nivea, Phyto and Dial, along with a complimentary Sara Lee Simple Sweets 6-Inch Pre-Baked Pie. This of course, is on top of the fact that you will get to see one of the tastiest films of the year. I had a chance to see Waitress a few weeks ago and have been recommending it to friends since. It is quirky, fun and one of the most intelligent films of the year.

I just hope Mom doesn't confess that she had an affair with her doctor when she was pregnant with me.

This kind of promotion would work better for Father's Day. You buy the tickets with your dad's credit card number and then sit in silence for two hours watching stuff blow up.

The movie was great! I went for the opening and got the goodie bag, which was a real treat. Maybe Sara Lee was an inspiration for the movie, because that Simple Sweet apple pie was amazing considering I just warmed it up in the microwave.

What kind of pie was it that was a light green avocado color?
