G.I. JOE: Rise of Cobra

G.I. JOE: Rise of Cobra

It appears that the currently in production G.I. JOE film, which stars Channing Tatum as Duke, has joined the long string of movie franchises just simply adopting a subtitle so as to keep the option of a long, non-numerical franchise. Just like Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen dropped the “2″, this first edition is getting a little bit of subtitle treatment.

How do we know that the film will now be called G.I. JOE: Rise of Cobra? Telepathy… Alright, maybe not. It could however, have something to do with the poster seen below, which was spotted on a billboard at Cinema EXPO in Amsterdam and posted to Film1.nl. Have a look for yourself below:

As you can see, the film hits theaters in 2009.

What do you think of the new title?

I think the title is okay.
It's the actual movie that I'm worried about.

smart way to pave the way for a lasting franchise....hopes are high!
  • Apparently G.I. Joe: Fall of the Standards wasn't available?

funny how the 1st poster they put out there with the name "rise of cobra" has Duke on it, this is yet another sign of a poor production team, I THINK this movie will blow.

They have to start somewhere with the film. An origin story of both Joe and Cobra seems logical. Hopefully the movie is as cool as the few pictures I have seen.
