GI Joe: Knowing Is Losing The Battle, At This Point
Movie News By Neil Miller on May 16, 2008 | (20) Comments
Alright people, now I know that some of you might be excited for this G.I. JOE movie and I really don’t want to be the one that smashes all your hopes and dreams, but I don’t think that I can really sit back and allow this production to trudge on without at least saying something. The sneaky snoops over at JustJared have published a few spy photos from the set that are “iffy” at best. I present to you the first set of them, that show Channing Tatum (“Duke”) and Marlon Wayons (“Ripcord”) in some sort of inter-stellar getup that might be used to fight the giant bugs (oops, wrong franchise):

The next shot, even more important than the last, shows Ray Park in his full Snake Eyes gear. I’m not opposed to the look, provided he keeps his visor thingy on throughout the film, I just feel like it looks too plastic and rubbery:

Overall this is still one of those things that will be determined when we finally see these costumes and characters in action, but I can say that the amount of hope that I still have for this film is withering away. Really, it is all hinging on the opinions of the few people I know who have been on set. They all swear that this movie is going to be very “cool” and that it will “kick ass”. Then again, they got to hang out on set of a big-budget action flick — there is a usual state of euphoria associated with that — all I get to do is sit here and take in the view from 50,000 ft. And from here, it ain’t looking so “cool”.
