george_michael.jpgSinger George Michael has been sentenced to 100 hours of community service and banned from driving for two years. He pled guilty to driving “while unfit” and placed the fault on prescribed drugs.

It’s interesting that he’s been banned from driving, since he was arrested last October after having been found slumped at the steering wheel of his car — not driving it, just slumped over in it.

One wonders if he got off so easily because he has a gig this coming weekend at Wembley Stadium, or because he said he was sorry, or because he expressed shame at doing something wrong that might put people at risk. How did he reach this conclusion of putting people at risk when his car wasn’t moving?

Michael was pleased with his sentence and spent time with his fans outside of court.

According to the BBC, Michael was “Reading from a prepared statement, he called the media coverage of the case “farcical” and said reporters had concentrated on the prosecution’s case. ‘I’m glad to put this behind me,’ he added. ;Now I’m off to do the biggest show of my life.’”

Maybe Paris Hilton should get her parents to hire George Michael’s attorney.
