Geek Out: ‘Transformers 2′ Devastator Revealed

Posted by Dr. Cole Abaius (cole.abaius@filmschoolrejects.com) on February 15, 2009

Feel free to geek out. I’ll wait.

I realize that my disdain for all things Michael Bay has spilled over into that poorly scripted, badly acted, but CHOCK FULL OF EXPLOSIONS blockbuster featuring giant fucking robots. So feel free to mock me for not falling out of my chair with excitement that a toy has been revealed.

A Toy is released: News.

So the giant mass chasing Optimus Prime at the end of the most recent trailer is just part of the beast that is The Devastator.

But…I’m honestly underwhelmed. Not just because I’m not a total fanboy for Transformers, but because the robot looks a little bit like the end result of an episode of Pimp My Power Ranger.

What do you think?

<geek>I actually think that that is the whole of Devestator in the trailer. I read he supposed to be 200 ft tall I think. Plus the face looks the same.</geek> And yes, Transformers was poorly acted all around, but you have to admit the kid in you lit up when you saw Optimus Prime rolling up.

the trailer only showed steam shovel heres a pic of steam shovel transformed http://www.slashfilm.com/wp/wp-content/images/con... i believe steam shovel to pry be the biggest constructicon i could be wrong but i doubt it lol JK
  • LEADLAYER420
k im wrong their callin him Demolisher not steam shovel in the movie whatever...
  • Braedee
Im away from home at the moment. So i could be mistaken. But in the trailer didn't the bottom of devestator/part of devestator have a giant single wheel like a unicycle? If so where is it on this 'final' devestator? Im not buying it, and if this is really it i have to agree. Looks like voltron re-done.
  • Dr. Ballon
You can see the giant wheel in his crotch. Which would make sense as to why the face is the same: the guy in the trailer is the face/ torso/ crotch of Devastator.
  • That's quite the ugly abomination.
  • dick
i agree looks like a baby wanna be gobot fucking stupid michael bay sucks

Braedee: The "wheeled" robot at the end of the teaser trailer is Demolisher, not Devastator. There's a leaked extended trailer that shows him better: http://www.aceshowbiz.com/news/view/00022028.html... I think that's what Cole Abaius was getting at when he said, "the giant mass chasing Optimus Prime at the end of the most recent trailer is just PART of the beast that is The Devastator." Check out this site to see all of the robots though if you'd like to see for yourself: http://screenrant.com/transformers-2-robots-pictu...
RobertFure: Sorry, dude, but Michael Bay is a total douche. However, I loved the first Transformers and am anxiously anticipating the follow-up. The geeky little 6-year-old fangirl in me jumped up and down with glee to see that when Hollywood can't come up with an original idea they can still dig up 20 year old gems like this. I just hope they don't ever think Thundercats needs to be made into a feature film. Bad porn, maybe. Oh wait, I spoke too soon. It's slated to come out in 2010. At least it's CGI and not live-action. Hollywood's keeping 'em coming too. Voltron in 2010, G.I. Joe this year. Shit, what's next? Rainbow Brite? He-Man? The Smurfs? Ah hell, who'm I kidding? I'll see them all even if they are garbage.
