Full ‘Star Trek’ Trailer Takes Off in Bootleg Form
First Look By Neil Miller on November 15, 2008 | (20) Comments
While I would recommend heading out to your local theater and seeing the new trailer for Star Trek in front of Quantum of Solace — both for the reason that a bootleg version won’t do it justice and because Quantum is a really fun flick — it can now be seen online thanks to a few intrepid fans and their sneaky tactics. As we explained a few days ago, the Trek trailer will make its official online debut on Monday. Of course, that wouldn’t stop fans from recording it and YouTube from hosting it — though I would urge all of you to act fast and watch it below before Paramount has it taken down.
As for the official business of my opinion, I was impressed by this trailer when I saw it yesterday in theaters. Though it is important to point out that I am not, I repeat, not a Star Trek fan by any measure. I’ve dabbled in the original series (who hasn’t?) and I’ve caught some of the more modern films in passing, but overall I couldn’t tell you thing one about Star Trek beyond what you could find on Wikipedia. That said, the film that J.J. Abrams appears to be making should target people like me very well as it has a very glossy, CG-heavy summer action movie look and feel to it. From what I hear. this may not go over well with long-time Trekkies. Though, me speculating about what is going on in the minds of Trekkies would be, as Spock would say, highly illogical. Instead I will just show you the trailer below and allow you to enlighten me in the comment section.
Star Trek hits theaters on May 8, 2009.
