Hot on the heels of the news that Jackie Earle Haley and Bella Heathcoate would be joining Tim Burton’s new mystical romp as a manservant and a mistress of an estate comes word that former Bond girl with a sexy French accent Eva Green will also be joining the cast. She will be playing Angelique, a witch who has a complicated but heated relationship with Johnny Depp’s vampire protagonist Barnabas Collins.

So who would win in a lover’s spat, a vampire or a witch? And would their babies have magic powers or be bloodsuckers? There are so many questions to be asked and answered when it comes to these mystical romances. Twilight is the King Kong of the “mythical creatures doing it” genre at the moment, but will Burton and company come up with something that’s able to take them down? Sure, the Twilight series has the benefit of being adapted from a ridiculously popular and current series of young adult novels rather than an obscure soap opera from the 60s, but at least Dark Shadows has a couple of leads that don’t look like they could crush walnuts with their foreheads. Will sex sell for Eva Green? Or maybe more importantly, who has the ability to cause more 13 year old shrieking and fainting, Depp or Edward?
