Marcus Nispel. Probably. ShockTillYouDrop.com revealed that a reliable source is saying that Marcus Nispel is close to closing the deal on directing the newest installment of this classic slasher. Nispel first made waves with the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, a film that I thought was really quite good. He then went on to make Pathfinder, a film that I thought was really quite bad. Nispel definitely has an eye and cam lens a good film, so I’m holding out hope for this.
The script was penned by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, the two guys responsible for the guilty pleasure that is Freddy vs Jason. Initial leanings were that this installment of Friday the 13th would be a sort of remake/reimagining of the franchise, like what has happened with Halloween and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. That makes sense then that Nispel would get the job. I for one am excited by cautious.
