French Actor Mathieu Amalric to Play the Next ‘Bond’ Villain
Movie News By Robert Fure on November 18, 2007 | Be the First To Comment
Fox News is reporting that Mathieu Amalric will be taking on the role of Bond’s villain in the upcoming, untitled, Bond 22. Haven’t heard of Mathieu? You’re not alone and you’re probably not French. Amalric burst onto the International scene with the success of The Diving Bell and the Butterfly and recently his name has been followed up with “Oscar contender.”
While the deal has not yet been confirmed officially, Fox News reports it as a certainty. Personally I haven’t seen any of Mathieu’s work, so I can’t say if this is a good move or not. He certainly doesn’t look like he be battling Bond in a contest of strength or a Best Beach Bod Competition, but then again intellectual villains are all the rage now. Only the future will tell if this is so much rock or so much suck.
Bond 22 is currently still in pre-production even though some scenes were shot in Siena, Italy in mid-August 2007.
