Frank Miller’s The Spirit Movie Trailer Screams

There doesn’t seem to be anything slowing the momentum of the upcoming (and by upcoming, I mean January of 2009) release The Spirit, from director Frank Miller. Yes, the same Frank Miller who is responsible for writing the source material behind such epic films as Sin City and 300. The film, which is based on the work of legendary comic writer Will Eisner, stars Gabriel Macht as The Spirit, a hero who rises from the dead and comes back to rescue his “screaming” city.

Along with Macht, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Eva Mendes and Paz Vega also star. From what we’ve seen — especially the content that we’ve been asked to remove by Lionsgate — things are looking pretty good. This trailer, while interesting and visually arresting, doesn’t tell us much about the film itself. It looks cool, though.

The Spirit will hit theaters on January 16, 2009.

i say they should make the goon into i movie that would be aewsome!
  • Many directors are trying to duplicate the style of 300 however with so many elements involved it is almost impossible to capture the timing since due to all the special effects it is almost like creating an animated movie. And with Lions Gate giving him an early option for a sequel their is some early buzz about this movie.

  • Aside from the jazzed up music lifted from the rooftop scene of Brian DePalma's excellent 'The Untouchables'... I'm still not interested.
