In this week’s product placement news, word on the street is that the car featured in the upcoming Knight Rider TV series could be a Mustang. Jalopnik reports on the rumor.

As we all know, the original K.I.T.T. car was a Pontiac Trans Am outfitted with a molecularly Bonded Shell to prevent everything but mortar attack. Maybe even mortar attack. Who knows? It was the 80s, so all the explosions just looked like smoke bombs. Meanwhile, as long as they get William Daniels to be the voice of KITT, I’ll be happy. I imagine that whoever is behind the driver’s wheel could use Mr. Feeney’s advice on how to avoid making a movie with a high probability of tanking.

“Boy Meets World” reference in a news story about Knight Rider? Don’t mind if I do.
