For Some Reason: Johansson In Talks for Iron Man 2
Movie News By Cole Abaius on February 14, 2009 | (30) Comments
The world is caving in on itself. Just a month ago, I was excited at the news surrounding Emily Blunt and her foray into the world of Tony Stark as The Black Widow. Then, complications arose in the form of contract obligations to Gulliver’s Travels which may conflict with the filming schedule for Iron Man 2. Turns out that Blunt can’t be in two places at once.
They are still hammering those details out – it’s difficult to say anything definite about scheduling when Iron Man 2 doesn’t have a script or a start date – but Marvel is still shopping around for a replacement just in case Blunt can’t do the project. They’re speaking with several actresses, but according to Entertainment Weekly, they are gunning Scarlett Johansson for that number one spot.
What an awful choice. If she could act it might be a different story, but Johansson doesn’t look like she can muster up enough energy to take the dogs for a walk let alone play in an action role. For proof, see her sleepwalking through The Island.
Plus, she’s one of those actresses whose name and face are much larger than any role. She’s too noticeable. Every time she’s on screen, I won’t be seeing Natasha Romanoff, I’ll be seeing Scarlett Johansson.
They are still in the talking phase, and hopefully Emily Blunt will magically be able to do both films, so there’s still time to keep your fingers crossed on this one.
What do you think? Am I way off base here? Would she actually be a good choice for the role?
