adam-1

I may be a few days late to the party on this one, but in my opinion this movie isn’t getting a lot of love, so it is worth coming back to. The first trailer for Fox Searchlight’s Sundance ’09 acquisition Adam, from director Max Mayer has debuted online courtesy of Yahoo Movies. Its a sweet little film about a young man named Adam (Hugh Dancy) living with Asperger syndrome. All he wants to do is live in his apartment and maybe, just maybe, find love. Of course it helps that a beautiful woman named Beth (Rose Byrne) has just moved in up stairs.

As I said, its a sweet and charming film that keeps things light even though it is dealing with some rather serious situations, like a guy with Asperger syndrome. As I mentioned in my review from Sundance, “Adam works because its central characters have such great chemistry. Together on screen Rose Byrne and Hugh Dancy deliver Beth and Adam as an authentic pair, executing perfectly the film’s many tender and sweet moments.” And I believe that you should see a little bit of that in the trailer below, as well as one of my favorite scenes of the movie that just so happens to be the final scene of the trailer.

Adam will hit theaters in limited release on July 29, 2009.
