Hans Zimmer is the composer for Sherlock Holmes so that's probably why it sounds similar to Pirates since he also composed for that.

Neil, ever the late bloomer. Rachel's costume is duly noted. This trailer is seductive. I had my doubts with Ritchie at the helm. I need to see more of Judes character, I am seriously not a fan of his. Downey is smashing as they say.

Remember lock stock and two smoking barrels, slow mo was used in that when the sleeping woman gets up and fires the machine gun. Guy Richie and the Wachoskis were slowing down scenes way before Zack Snyder was.

I'm actually pleased with RDJ as Holmes. I've been a longtime fan of Arthur Conan Doyle and the world he created for his intrepid detectives, so I've been aware of what you wrote about for a little while.

(Forgive my inner-geekness for a moment:) On Star Trek: The Next Generation, when Data had his story arcs in a holodeck simulation as Holmes (i.e. when Moriarty took control of the Enterprise), it appeared as if the writers/creative team took the concept you mentioned (the combo of books, TV, and movies) as what Sherlock Holmes SHOULD be…as opposed to actually reading and studying the books for a more accurate likeness. They probably did it because it is a more recognizable affectation for the "masses." I applaud Guy Ritchie's "take" on the character of Holmes (and RDJ), but I still think Jude Law doesn't quite "click" for me. I know a teaser trailer is exactly that…a small taste of what is to come, so I'll try to suspend further judgement until I see more. :-)

This trailer looks like fun, but there's something about the slo-mo action that doesn't feel right. Here's hoping that it is used sparingly in the actual film.

Also, not sure if anyone mentioned the lovely Rachel McAdams and her steamy costume selection. That is a win, friends. ;)

Complaint noted. We'll see what we can do. Its a tough balance — trying to keep the user experience at its best while also making enough cheddar to keep the lights on — you'd be surprised how much light bulbs cost these days ;)
